HeyGen generates videos from a script using a digital avatar, with lip sync that is good enough to pass at normal viewing distance. It also does video translation, keeping your voice and moving your mouth to the new language. The avatar quality is the reason people choose it over cheaper competitors.
Who it is for
A team that needs training and product videos in several languages without booking a studio each time.
Key features
- Stock and custom avatars with lip sync
- Video translation into 30-plus languages
- Script-to-video generation from a prompt
- Brand kit and template locking
- API and Zapier integration
Where it falls short
Avatar realism is the selling point and the ceiling: anything shot close, in profile or with hands in frame still reads as generated, and credits burn fast on retries.
Pricing
The free plan gives a small number of short credits, enough to test but not to produce. Paid starts around $29 a month and the meaningful limits are video length and credits, not features. Translation and custom avatars are on the higher tiers.
Prices move; the tier structure is the part that stays true. Check current pricing on HeyGen.
